Color choices
Cookie cutters can take warm reds, forest greens, golden yellows, and soft pinks for the gingerbread figure, star, tree, and heart. Color the broad dough area first in pale tan, then use deeper brown on the rolling pin barrel and handles. Finish the cutter rims in cool gray, with contrasting shades along the inner outlines to separate each shape.
