Color choices
Latkes can begin with golden brown centers and darker amber along the crisp edges. Use pale yellow for the short surface marks, then choose cream or soft gold for the applesauce in the bowl and spoon. Color the plate, bowl, and spoon with cool blue or green tones so they contrast with the warm food colors.
Crispy Edge Pattern
Alternate warm shades around the uneven latke edges, then repeat the same color sequence across the stack. Give the plate rim and bowl bands a coordinating pattern.
