Color choices

Lyrebird can begin with soft brown or gray across the body, leaving the wing feathers in varied earthy shades. Color the sweeping tail plumes next, using chestnut, cream, and charcoal for the striped and fine-lined sections. Try a warm yellow beak with a dark eye for contrast. Finish the ferns, fallen branch, ground, and scattered leaves in layered greens and browns.

Tail Feather Pattern Play

Use alternating shades along the striped tail sections, then repeat selected shades in the ferns and scattered leaves to connect the scene.
