Hedgehogs Coloring Pages

24 free PDFs

Hedgehogs are small spiny mammals that search for beetles and worms after dark and roll into a prickly ball for protection. These pages show that real side of hedgehog life: a hedgehog sniffing across a lawn under a crescent moon, a line of tiny hoglets following through the clover, and a cutaway of the leaf nest where a hedgehog sleeps through winter.

Alongside them are storybook scenes, from a hedgehog reading by the fire to one splashing in rain boots or waving from a hot air balloon, and detailed designs for older colorists: a geometric mandala, a zentangle coat of spines and a repeating pattern. Start with the six picks below or browse every hedgehog page, then download the free PDF.

Things to make with your hedgehogs coloring pages

Color a night-time hedgehog

Hedgehogs come out after dark. Color the sky on the night foraging page in deep blues and purples, then keep the hedgehog, the beetles and the garden gnome lighter so they stand out against the lawn.

Make a hibernation note

Color the hibernation cutaway, then write a short note under it about where hedgehogs sleep in winter and what they need: a pile of dry leaves, a sheltered spot and quiet until spring.

Layer the spines

On the zentangle or mandala page, pick one color family for the spines and another for the background, then use three shades of the spine color to make the prickly coat look layered.

Each picture is an individual vector PDF. Print on US Letter, or choose β€œFit to page” for A4. Try one copy first to check the margins.

Questions about hedgehogs coloring pages

Which hedgehog pages show how real hedgehogs live?

Four pages follow real hedgehog behavior. One sniffs for beetles on a garden lawn at night under a crescent moon, another leads a line of tiny hoglets through clover, a cutaway shows one hibernating in a nest of leaves under a tree root, and one rolls into a tight spiky ball on moss beside another that stays uncurled.

Are there hedgehog pages with big shapes for younger children?

The Simple Round Hedgehog has a zigzag outline of spines, small feet and a single leaf drawn with extra thick lines. The kawaii hedgehog peeking out of a teacup and the pet hedgehog sitting in cupped hands also have large open shapes and only a few small details.

Which hedgehog pages have the most detail for adults?

The zentangle hedgehog divides its coat into sections of swirls, scales and leaf patterns, the geometric mandala surrounds a hedgehog with rings of leaves and diamonds, and the hedgehog pattern repeats small hedgehogs, acorns, stars and flowers across the whole page. Fine-tip markers or sharp colored pencils suit the small spaces.
