Color choices
Butterflies are the main focus; begin with bright shades across the large wing sections. Use deeper tones for the wing spots and borders, with strong contrast around the bodies, antennae, and proboscises. Try pale blue or gray for the puddle and earthy browns for the stones and tree trunks. Finish the ferns and leafy plants with varied greens.
Puddle Scene Story
Imagine what happens after the butterflies finish sipping, and tell a short woodland story using the puddle, path, stones, and plants.
Before you print
With about 216 areas to color, Butterflies Sipping at a Puddle Coloring Page sits at a medium level of detail. Use crayons for the big shapes and switch to pencils for the narrow parts.
The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.
