Color choices
Turtles can start with green heads and legs, then use olive, brown, or teal across the patterned shells. Color the log with warm browns and contrast its grain lines with a deeper shade. Try blue water, green lily pads, and pink or purple water lilies. Finish the dragonflies and cattails with bright accents that stand out from the reeds.
Shell Pattern Palette
Choose a repeating palette for the shell sections, then vary the order across each turtle. Use a contrasting shade around the outer shell edges to make the patterns stand out.
Before you print
Turtles Sunning on a Log Coloring Page has about 194 separate areas to color, a medium level of detail. Crayons work for the larger shapes, and colored pencils or fine markers help in the smaller spaces.
The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.
