Color choices
This guard turns a large wheel to raise the spiked portcullis at a stone gateway. Try a metallic gray for the helmet and sword, then pick a deep color like red or blue for the tunic underneath. The heavy chain and wooden winch could take dark brown and iron gray, while the stone archway and cobblestone path look good in warm tan tones. Small flags atop the castle towers beyond could add one bright note.
Compare armor and stones
Color the knight’s armor using a metallic palette, then apply darker shades to the surrounding stone blocks and archway.
Before you print
Guard Raising the Portcullis at the Stone Gateway Coloring Page has about 330 separate areas to color, so it is a detailed page. Sharpened colored pencils or fine-tip markers reach the small spaces, and it is easy to color one section at a time.
Download the PDF and print it on US Letter. For A4, select “Fit to page” in the print dialog; a single test print shows whether your printer keeps the thin outer frame.
