Color choices
This dragon hatches from its speckled egg in the mountain nest, its scales ready for a bright green or blue with a lighter belly. Try a warm tan for the cracked eggshell still surrounding it, keeping the woven nest beneath a golden straw color. The rocky mountains and pine trees rising behind the nest could take on cool grays and greens, framing the hatching scene.
Compare the texture of the eggshell and the nest
Color the eggshell first, then use a contrasting palette for the fluffy nest and the rocky ground.
