Color choices

Kids can begin with the treasure chest, using warm brown for the wooden slats and gold for the bands, lock, and studs. Choose red or purple for the pirate hats and echo that shade on the sashes. Color the parrot, palm leaves, boat, and map with tropical greens, sandy tans, and ocean blues. Use a bright contrasting tone on the shovel handles and skull emblems.

Treasure Map Story

Follow the dotted route on the treasure map and invent a short story about how the kids reached the buried chest.

Printing tips

Kids Digging for Pirate Treasure Coloring Page has about 276 separate areas to color, so it is a detailed page. Sharpened colored pencils or fine-tip markers reach the small spaces, and it is easy to color one section at a time.

The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.

This picture is also in the Pirate Coloring Pack, one PDF with 12 pictures and a cover page for printing a set in one go.
