Color choices
A hippo soaks in a calm river, its head resting above the water. Color its broad back a soft gray, and let the ears and snout take on a paler pink tone. Try cool blues for the water rippling around it, and fresh greens for the reeds and grass lining the bank. Keep the ripples on the surface simple so the hippo stays the focus.
Compare water ripples and reeds
Color the water ripples first, then use a bright color for the reeds around the hippo.
