Color choices

This starfish rests on the seafloor between a spiral shell and a ridged scallop shell, with bubbles rising above. Try a warm orange or pink for the starfish’s rounded points and a lighter shade for the small dots across it. Color the spiral shell in warm browns and the scallop shell in a soft cream. Use a sandy tan for the ocean floor and scattered rocks around the shells.

Compare shell and starfish textures

Color the starfish first, then use a different palette for the shells and seaweed to show their different textures.

Before you print

Starfish Between Shells Coloring Page has about 84 separate areas to color, a medium level of detail. Crayons work for the larger shapes, and colored pencils or fine markers help in the smaller spaces.

Download the PDF and print it on US Letter. For A4, select “Fit to page” in the print dialog; a single test print shows whether your printer keeps the thin outer frame.
