Color choices
This turtle suns itself on a log floating at the water’s edge. Try an olive green for its shell and a warm tan for its head and legs, leaving the shell’s pattern a shade darker for contrast. The cattails growing along the bank and the lily pad with its flower nearby could take deep greens and soft pinks, while the pine trees and mountains in the distance stay cool and muted.
Compare water and log textures
Color the water first, then use a contrasting palette for the smooth texture of the log and the patterned shell.
