Color choices

Hydrangeas can begin with soft blue, lavender, pink, or cream across the flower clusters. Color the broad veined leaves in layered greens, then continue those greens through the shrubs and grasses. Use warm brown for the wooden gate and posts, with gray on the ring handle. Finish the stepping stones in pale gray or tan, keeping the path lighter than the surrounding plants for contrast.

Hydrangea Color Pattern

Choose a repeating color sequence for the hydrangea clusters, then use a contrasting sequence across the leaves. Carry a flower shade into a small garden detail to connect the scene.

Printing tips

Hydrangeas by a Garden Gate Coloring Page has about 373 separate areas to color, so it is a detailed page. Sharpened colored pencils or fine-tip markers reach the small spaces, and it is easy to color one section at a time.

The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.
