Color choices

Impossible trident sections can begin with the broad prongs in yellow, teal, and orange. Use darker versions of those colors along the angled joints and rectangular bases. Keep the rounded openings pale, then place strong contrast where the tubular shapes merge into the block-like forms to emphasize the illusion.

Shifting Shade Pattern

Color each long section with a light-to-dark gradient. Reverse the shading direction at the angled joints to make the impossible transition stand out.

Before you print

With about 11 areas to color, Impossible Trident Illusion Coloring Page is an easy page: the shapes are big and open. Wide crayons or washable markers fill them without much fuss.

The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.

This picture is also in the Op Art Coloring Pack, one PDF with 12 pictures and a cover page for printing a set in one go.
