Color choices

Great Barrier Reef can begin with ocean blues around the manta ray, shark, striped fish, coral, clam, and bubbles. Color the broad water and large animals first, using soft blues, grays, and sandy neutrals. Use orange with white bands on the fish, then contrast the branching coral, tube sponges, anemone, and wavy clam shell with pinks, purples, greens, and warm yellows.

Reef Scene Story

Tell a short reef story that begins near the striped fish and ends above the coral with the manta ray and shark.

Printing tips

Great Barrier Reef Coloring Page has about 215 separate areas to color, a medium level of detail. Crayons work for the larger shapes, and colored pencils or fine markers help in the smaller spaces.

Download the PDF and print it on US Letter. For A4, select “Fit to page” in the print dialog; a single test print shows whether your printer keeps the thin outer frame.
