Color choices

Zentangle gecko patterns can begin with broad colors across the head, body, limbs, and curling tail. Use teal with lime for the leaf-like bands, then bring in amber for circles and spirals. Deep violet around the large eyes and toe pads can create contrast, while lighter shades keep the narrow stripes and scalloped sections distinct.

Repeating Pattern Palette

Choose a recurring palette for the spirals, leaf shapes, scales, and dotted bands. Repeat the colors along the body and curled tail to connect the detailed sections.

Before you print

Zentangle Gecko Coloring Page has about 739 separate areas to color, so it is a detailed page. Sharpened colored pencils or fine-tip markers reach the small spaces, and it is easy to color one section at a time.

The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.
