Color choices
This dragonfly hovers over the pond, its long segmented tail balanced beneath a spread of veined, see-through wings. Try a bright tone for the rounded eyes and head, then run a series of alternating bands down the tail so its segments are easy to tell apart. The lily pads and water lilies resting on the pond can take fresh greens and pinks, while the tall cattails at the edge suit deeper, earthy tones.
Compare water and plant textures
Color the water first, then use a soft green for the lily pads and lotus flowers.
Before you print
With about 184 areas to color, Dragonfly Hovering Over Rain-Speckled Pond Coloring Page sits at a medium level of detail. Use crayons for the big shapes and switch to pencils for the narrow parts.
The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.
