Color choices
This caterpillar rests on a broad leaf with rolling hills and soft bushes spread out behind it. Try a bright green for the caterpillar’s segmented body and a deeper green for the leaf beneath it. Let the distant hills fade into a cooler, muted green for depth, and give the bushes along the horizon a slightly darker shade. Keep the sky plain to let the caterpillar stand out.
Compare leaf and caterpillar
Color the leaf first, then use a different palette for the caterpillar’s body and spots.
