Color choices
An adult elephant and a smaller calf link trunks in this scene, a natural spot to try a deeper tone for the larger elephant and a lighter one for the calf. Vary the grays and browns across the rocks along the path so the ground doesn’t look flat. In the distance, the jagged rock formations can take a cool gray, while a thin ribbon of water winds through in pale blue.
Compare trunk textures
Color the mother elephant’s trunk first, then use a different palette for the baby’s trunk and the surrounding rocks.
Printing tips
Elephant and Calf with Linked Trunks on a Rocky Path Coloring Page has about 108 separate areas to color, a medium level of detail. Crayons work for the larger shapes, and colored pencils or fine markers help in the smaller spaces.
The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.
