Color choices

Hydra heads and long necks can begin in deep green, with pale yellow underbellies and purple tongues. Color the Hero’s cape, armor, round shield, and sword next, combining crimson with steel gray and warm gold accents. Finish the pond in blue-green, then use brighter greens for reeds and lily pads so the figures stand out.

Shield Pattern Story

Use alternating colors on the shield’s radiating sections, then create a short story about the Hero’s plan at the pond.

Printing tips

The Hydra and the Hero Coloring Page has about 328 separate areas to color, so it is a detailed page. Sharpened colored pencils or fine-tip markers reach the small spaces, and it is easy to color one section at a time.

The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.

This picture is also in the Mythical Creatures Coloring Pack, one PDF with 12 pictures and a cover page for printing a set in one go.
