Color choices
A rose grows beside a thick tree trunk with a knotted hollow in its bark. Color the petal-perched butterfly in a bright hue that differs from the rose so it catches attention first. Give the tree bark a warm brown and let the leafy canopy above take on deeper and lighter greens for texture, then finish the grass at the base in a soft green.
Compare petals and butterfly wings
Color the rose petals first, then use a contrasting palette for the butterfly’s wings and body.
Printing tips
Rose with a Butterfly on Its Petal Beside a Tree Coloring Page has about 87 separate areas to color, a medium level of detail. Crayons work for the larger shapes, and colored pencils or fine markers help in the smaller spaces.
The PDF fills one US Letter page. On A4 paper, choose “Fit to page” so the frame stays inside the margins, and print one test copy before making a class set.
