Color choices
This large rose, seen directly from above, opens its many layered petals beside a wooden fence woven with climbing vines. Try a bold warm color for the tightly spiraled petals, shading the inner layers a touch darker than the outer ones. Shade the fence boards in a warm weathered brown, then let the vine leaves twisting across it take a fresh green. The rose’s own leaves suit a deep green.
Color the rose petals first
Color the rose petals before applying a contrasting green to the leaves and fence slats.
